Iron Bound Teak Stick Chest From Kutch - 19th Century Scarves 108 x 46 x 55This 19th century Indian chest is unusual in having front opening doors rather than a lid and comes from Kutch. This is the first time that we have seen a chest of this style and it is reminiscent of the damchiyas of Kutch mixed with influences of Jaiselmer stick boxes. It also has a secondary compartment inside the main compartment with its own door and latch. There are an extraordinary variety of styles found across India reflecting the many
