but it is contacted on the base where it was removed from the pocket

Monazite is usually found in granitic pegmatites

Microcline with Smoky Quartz and Albite Siderite The piece looks like it’sAn attractive matrix display specimen featuring a few blocky crystals of very pale blue green Microcline (probably not dark enough for what I would call Amazonite) associated with starkly contrasting Smoky Quartz and highlighted by snow white Albite (var: Cleavelandite). The largest Microcline crystal measures 3. 3 cm and the main Smoky Quartz group measures 3. 6 cm long. The piece displays nicely, but the rightmost Microcline along with the
