Hence British playwright and poet T. S. Eliot's line from The Wasteland: "As one on whom assurance sits, as a silk hat on a Bradford millionaire." The rugby football club's annual ball was a real feast. Attendees were offered five different roasts, two pies, two boiled birds and the local Yorkshire ham. There was a choice of two great
